Get your entries in!

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

So, we’ve been a little occupied with the launch of Webstock 2010, but now that’s underway, we’re focusing on the ONYas for while!

The closing date for entries is 6pm on Monday 9 November. That gives you just over three weeks to get your entry in. Finalists in each category will be announced in early December.

We’re delighted to welcome our new category sponsors for the ONYAs. Silverstripe, Google, Microsoft, Intergen and 3months join existing sponsors Shift, NZ Post and Idealog.

So, why enter? In addition to being a celebration of both your work and that of the NZ web industry as a whole, if you’re a finalist you’ll be highlighted at the awards dinner on the final night of Webstock. It’ll be a wonderful occasion and there’ll be a veritable who’s who of the NZ and international web community in attendance, including most of the ONYA judges and all of the Webstock 2010 speakers.

Tickets for the ONYAs dinner will be on sale very soon!

Moving the ONYAs to Webstock in February

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Entries have been flying in for ONYAs and as expected, we’ve been thoroughly impressed by the innovation, creativity and beauty of the work submitted. My, what a talented web community we have in this country!

To allow us to put on an even greater celebration of this talent, we’ve decided to move the ONYAs award ceremony to the evening of Friday 19 February – which incidentally is the last day of Webstock 2010.

This change allows the ONYAs to be the climax of Webstock week – a true celebration of the NZ web industry, held at a time when those from the industry are together. It gives us more opportunity to showcase the best of the New Zealand web in front of an international audience. And it allows more time for entrants to put together compelling entries about their work!

It also means we can fully support the Liz Dengate Thrush Foundation who are holding the New Zealand Internet Industry Awards which are scheduled for 20 August 2009. While the audience is slightly different to that of the ONYAs, these awards are another great way of celebrating NZ’s vibrant and talented web industry.

We’ll let you know soon the revised date for the closing of entries, but it will allow all those designers, developers, content writers, UX professionals and site owners more time to submit their work for review by our outstanding line up of judges.

Thanks to those who’ve entered so far, to our most excellent judges and our sponsors – Shift, NZ Post and Idealog – without whom the ONYAs would not be possible.

Stay tuned for more information and in the meantime, why not enter the ONYAs!

Entries now open

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

We’ve wanted to have some awards for the New Zealand web industry for a couple of years now. We think it’s a world-class industry, doing some amazing work. We’ve wanted to celebrate that. If Webstock is about connecting and informing and educating the industry, then the ONYAs are about celebrating what we do.

Entries are now open for the ONYAs and will be open until Friday 24th July. We’d love to see a lot of entries. There’s such great sites and applications out there that deserve to be more widely known. Please help spread the word about the ONYAs by letting people know entries are now open.

An event like this simply could not happen without the support of sponsors.

We’re delighted that the ONYAs are being presented in association with Shift, our major sponsor. Shift have been a leader in the New Zealand web scene for a decade now and it means a lot to us that they see the potential of the ONYAs.

We’re also pleased to welcome category sponsors NZ Post and Idealog. NZ Post are the sponsor of the Best content (personal) category and Idealog a sponsor for the Most Innovative category. Idealog has been a supporter of Webstock and the ONYAs since we started and we’re delighted that NZ Post are now involved.

Good luck!
