The ONYAs - a celebration of New Zealand's web industry

A celebration of New Zealand's web industry

Sponsors

The ONYAs are presented in association with Shift, who are our major sponsor. There are also a number of category sponsors.

We'd love to have like-minded companies and organisations join us in the ONYAs. We're excited about the ONYAs and their importance for the industry. We think they're a great opportunity for companies to benefit from association with the awards.

Most outstanding website

ShiftShift are the major sponsor for the ONYAs and sponsor of the "Most outstanding website" category

Shift is delighted to be the major sponsor of the ONYAs. We believe that the New Zealand web community is among the strongest in the world, and we’re proud to have been a part of it for more than 14 years. We’re excited about the great online work that is being created by New Zealand companies, big and small; work that is often recognised internationally for its excellence.
We fully support Natasha & Mike’s efforts to establish the ONYAs, as it gives us all a chance to celebrate that work together. We encourage the rest of the industry to join us in support of the ONYA team and to help make New Zealand’s first web industry awards night a great success. See you there!

Best visual design

SilverstripeSilverstripe are sponsor of the "Best visual design" category.

SilverStripe is very proud to sponsor "Best Visual Design". The web medium offers unprecedented capability to communicate visually. The visual web technologies available and the creativity shown in the usage of them gets more exciting day by day. Far from slowing down, the pace of change in visual communications is speeding up and we couldn't be more excited about that! We celebrate the visual pioneers who inspire us.

Best user experience

GoogleGoogle are sponsor of the "Best user experience" category.

Google is proud to sponsor the Best User Experience Category in keeping with the first tenet of our company's philosophy:
1. Focus on the user and all else will follow.
Since the beginning, we've focused on providing the best user experience possible. Whether we're designing a new Internet browser or a new tweak to the look of the homepage, we take great care to ensure that they will ultimately serve you, rather than our own internal goal or bottom line. Our homepage interface is clear and simple, and pages load instantly. Placement in search results is never sold to anyone, and advertising is not only clearly marked as such, it offers relevant content and is not distracting. And when we build new tools and applications, we believe they should work so well you don't have to consider how they might have been designed differently.

Best use of HTML & CSS

SilverstripeSilverstripe are sponsor of the "Best visual design" category.

Well-structured HTML that's standards-compliant is a rarity. Site development budgets usually get squeezed and standards-compliance and semantic markup usually get the short end of the stick. That's why it's important to recognize when it's done well and to celebrate those who believe strongly enough in best-practice HTML & CSS development to fight to make sure it actually happens.

Best accessibility

MicrosoftMicrosoft are sponsor of the "Best accessibility" category.

Accessibility makes the computer easier to see, hear, and use. At Microsoft, our mission is to enable people and businesses throughout the world to realise their full potential. We are committed to developing technology for everyone—including individuals who experience the world in different ways because of difficulties or disabilities.
From the early stages of Windows Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) we worked closely with the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative group and Assistive Technology Vendors (ATVs). The W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) defines ARIA as a syntax for making dynamic web content and custom user interfaces accessible. IE8 recognises the ARIA role, state, and property information and exposes it to 3rd party assistive technologies. Instead of building separate simplified Web pages for Accessibility, you can use ARIA to mark up your rich Web applications with roles, states and properties.

3months are passionate about the future of the mobile web. We believe the web-capability and connectedness of the latest batch of (Apple and Google Android) smart-phones will spark huge growth in mobile web-applications.
